.shop Domains

A .shop Name, With the Real Price Up Front.

A short ending for anything you sell. See next year's price before you pay, and we point it at your website for you.

See if your .shop is free
Type a word to see it across the popular endings, or the whole name, like mystartup.shop, to ask about just that one. A standard .shop here is $2.98 for the first year, then $40.77 a year.
Tell us what the site is, in a word or a sentence, and we suggest names, then check which ones are still available.

What to Know Before Buying a .shop

  • The first year is not the price

A .shop is often a couple of dollars at first and over $30 a year after that. Budget for the renewal, since a first-year offer only lasts one year.

  • Run from Japan, sold worldwide

GMO Registry operates .shop. There are no rules about where you live or what you sell.

  • Good for a page of products

It suits a small catalogue with buy buttons from your payment provider, which is what a static website does well. A full shop system with stock and orders needs a shop platform.

What a Two-Dollar .shop Really Costs

.shop launched in 2016, run by GMO Registry in Japan. It is one of the most heavily discounted endings there is. When we checked in November 2026, the cheapest first year we found was about $2, and the renewal at the same seller was about $31.

That is not a trick, as long as you know it is coming. Over three years the name costs close to $65 at that seller, not $6, and the second payment is the one that surprises people. So before you buy, multiply the renewal by the number of years you expect to use the name, and add the first year on top.

Do that sum for .store as well, and for a .com with an extra word in it. All three do the same job, and a clear answer usually comes out of the arithmetic.

A Good Fit For

  • A small catalogue with buy buttons from your payment provider. A handful of products on static pages loads quickly, costs little to run, and suits an ending that says you sell things.
  • Local shops, where the name and the place fit together. A florist or bakery can often get a short address that says what it is and where it is, without any awkward extra words.

Not the Best Fit For

  • Buying for the first-year price alone. The renewal is many times higher than the offer, so work out what the name costs over three years before deciding it is the cheap option.
  • Anything needing a cart and order system built in. We host static pages, so a shop with stock counts, customer accounts and order tracking needs a shop platform behind it.

What the Price Pays For

A registrar that only sells names will usually charge less for the name. What you get here is everything after it, in the same place as your website.

  • The connecting is done for you

We write the DNS records and join the name to your website ourselves. Nothing to look up and nothing to copy between accounts.

  • The padlock comes with it

The SSL certificate is issued when you pick the website, then renewed for as long as you use the name. It is not an extra.

  • Email on your name

Add hello@ or info@ on the name, and mail sent there lands in the inbox you already read. The forwarding and MX records are set up here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a .shop so cheap the first year?

Because it is a promotion. Sellers and the registry discount the first year to win the sale, and the renewal is the regular price. The search here shows both before you buy.

Can I sell from a website hosted on Static.app?

Yes, by embedding buy buttons or a checkout from your payment provider in your pages. There is no built-in cart or order system.

Should I choose .shop or .store?

Choose the one where your name is free and sounds right to you. Neither has an advantage in search, and renewals are what will differ.

Does a .shop hurt my Google ranking?

No. Google treats newer endings as generic, so the ending neither helps nor hurts.

What will a .shop cost over three years?

Add the first-year price to two renewals. At the low-priced seller we checked in November 2026 that came to about $65, and prices vary, so do the sum on the price you are shown.

Do I need a paid plan?

The name is its own yearly purchase, and you can use it with a website kept anywhere. Connecting it to a website here needs a paid plan, from Starter. Free websites stay on a free subdomain.

Is the name mine, and can I move it later?

Yes. It is registered in your name, and the code you need to take it elsewhere is a click away in its menu. A name you already own elsewhere can move here the same way.
