What is Static.app?
We made Static.app for people to host their websites in a fast and quick way on high-performance servers. We see it as a go-to tool for solving everything hosting-related without passing through most technical hurdles.
What is a Static Website?
A static website consists only of static webpages. A static web page (sometimes called a flat page or a stationary page) is a web page that is delivered to the user's web browser exactly as stored, in contrast to dynamic web pages which are generated by a web application.
What are examples of Static Websites
Usually, static websites are a great beginning for more complicated projects. Local businesses could host their menus, agencies could post service descriptions, freelancers could publish portfolios and resumes. There's also a place for media like image galleries, videos and even image boards or web apps, if done correctly.
Do you plan on adding more features in the future?
Sure! Static.app is going to grow its feature set for years to come.

Can I work together with my team?
Yes. Paid plans include Workspaces, separate areas to organize websites, projects, or clients, each with its own websites, settings, files, forms, and team members. The Medium plan includes 1 team seat and the Large plan includes 3, and you can add extra teammates for $5 per month from your account.

How do I upload my website?
There are two ways of uploading a website to Static.app. The first one is available by drag-and-dropping a .zip archive from your system onto our landing page here https://static.app.
The second one is possible when you are registered and logged into Static.app and choose to add a new website on the main screen.Some of my files are grey and unavailable. Why is that?
Some files that might be related to programming scripts are not supported in Static.app yet. Resolution examples: php, py, cpp, rb, and other programming language related files. If you have a special case and want us to support that - please text us more about your use case in our support channel. We'd love to hear from you!
What file extensions does Static.app support?
Static.app supports all the common web file types, including html, htm, css, js, scss, json, xml, svg, png, jpg, jpeg, gif, ico, webp, woff, woff2, ttf, otf, eot, mp3, mp4, webm, ogg, pdf, doc, and more. You can also drag in a .zip archive and we will unpack it automatically. Since Static.app is a static host, server-side scripts are stored but not executed.

What kinds of domains can I use?
In a free version of Static.app, you can either auto-generate a domain name, or enter a custom name for your second-level domain. For example, auto-generated.static.domains or custom.static.domains. If you decide to use your own domain, you can do so in the Settings section of your website, and going into Domains, where you could set up a connection between your domain provider and Static.app.
Can I park multiple custom domains or purchase a new domain through Static.app?
We have these features in our roadmap, and we are yet to start working on them. If you would like to see one of them sooner, please contact us here and share your use case to prioritize this feature higher in our roadmap 😉
Can I host several websites on one account?
Yes. You can use your account to host several websites or projects. We allocate a private space for each one.
Can I collect data from my visitors with forms?
Sure, you can set up a form by adding a "static-form" attribute to the <form> tag, then try leaving a test form response and see it in a Form section inside your website settings. If you have any trouble with forms, please let us know.
Can I reconnect my custom domain as many times as I want?
Technically, yes. But please avoid reconnecting your custom domain more than 5 times within a week to avoid technical problems.
Can I create a QR code for my website?
Yes. With one click you can turn any page or website link into a QR code that you can download and share anywhere. QR codes are available on every plan, including the free one.

What is under the hood of Static.app?
Our servers are powered by Intel next-generation architecture, NVMe SSD storage, and a highly resilient infrastructure, to meet your needs.
Do you backup the data?
We store and secure your data on multiple external storage spaces. We backup the data every day, so you can be sure there won't be any information lost from your websites.
Is the amount of traffic limited?
Traffic for your website server is unlimited. This means you can host services or applications that require a high bandwidth, providing your users and customers with an optimal browsing experience at no extra cost.
How to set up a home page for my website?
To set up a home page for your website, navigate to the Pages section of your website (https://static.app/sites/pages/...) and hover a cursor over a page that you want to Set as Homepage. Then either click on its preview, or find a three-dot button and click on Settings in the dropdown menu. On the Settings page, find a Set as Homepage (★) checkbox and make it active. Click Save Changes and wait for 3-5 minutes for this setting to apply.
Is SSL (HTTPS) included?
Yes. Every website gets an auto-issued SSL certificate and HTTPS by default, including websites on your own custom domain. There is nothing to set up and no renewals to worry about.
Do you provide built-in analytics?
Yes. Static.app includes privacy-friendly website analytics, so you can see visitors, pageviews, referrers, and your top pages right from your dashboard, with no third-party tracking script to install.
Can I password-protect my website?
Yes. You can protect an entire website or an individual page with a password from your website settings. Visitors will be asked to enter the password before they can view the protected content.
Can I redirect a page?
Yes. On a paid plan you can redirect any page to another page or an external URL with a real 301, 302, 307, or 308 status, set right from the page's settings. It's handy when you move or rename a page and want old links to keep working.

What is the difference between the Free and Paid plans?
The free plan lets you host 1 website on a free Static.app subdomain (for example, yourname.static2.website) with SSL included. Paid plans start at $6 per month and add more websites, custom domains, extra storage, and team features. Choose annual billing and you get 2 months free.
What does happen if I switch from Monthly to Annual and back?
We tried to make this very simple. If you decide to purchase an Annual plan while being on a Monthly one - just purchase an Annual plan and it will be enabled for the next 365 days. If you decide to switch back from Annual to the Monthly plan - just purchase it here https://static.app/pricing or from your account settings page and it will be switched to Monthly. If you want us to pro-rate something - please message us details of your case here.
Can I add more storage to my Static.app account?
Yes, you can easily add additional storage to your account. We offer flexible plans to suit your needs:
- 1 GB – $5
- 5 GB – $9
- 25 GB – $29
- 50 GB – $49
- 100 GB – $89
How do I add more storage?
Adding storage is simple! Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Static.app account.
- Go to the “Billing” section in your account settings.
- Choose the Additional Storage plan that works best for you.
- Confirm your selection, and the storage will be added instantly.
What happens if I run out of storage?
If you run out of storage, you’ll receive a notification prompting you to upgrade. You can upgrade anytime to avoid interruptions in your project hosting.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my additional storage plan?
Yes, you can adjust your storage plan at any time directly from your account. Simply select the plan that best fits your current needs.
Can I request a refund?
Sure, if you have purchased a paid subscription and something is not working correctly - we will fix it for you ASAP or issue a refund for you. But please keep in mind that you have 14 days since the purchase to figure it out, according to our Terms of Service.

Does Static.app have an API?
Yes. All paid plans include a REST API to manage your websites, files, forms, users, and workspaces programmatically. You can read the full documentation at https://static.app/api/docs and generate an API key from your account settings.
Do you have an MCP server for AI assistants?
Yes. Static.app provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so you can create, update, and manage your websites and forms straight from AI assistants like Claude. Connect it with your Static.app API key and deploy without leaving your AI tool.
How do I get an API key?
Log in to your Static.app account, open your account settings, and create an API key from the API section. Use that key for both the REST API and the MCP server. Keep it secret, since it grants access to your websites.
